Some Recent Drawings...

Here's a little selection of what's popped out of my imagination as of late... All were done in entirely graphite, except for the zombie visiting the sleeping girl, that one had a digital ink wash effect added.

It's A Very Green Future - Pages

I recently finished illustrating a short story, It's A Very Green Future, written by Roger Crooks. I've posted two pages from it and some of their stages. I'll let you guys know when it comes out!

Night Craft Mini #2

The second issue of my free comic series Night Craft Mini is here! Just like the regular size comic book version of Night Craft, it features quirky sci-fi/horror/maybe anything else stories written and illustrated by me. The stories in the smaller version are unique to it.

This one is available in a printed form at any of the conventions I attend, so stop by and see me!

I'm available for any commissions or comics, or other illustrations you may need done. Contact me at jesse7800@gmail.com

A Few New Drawings...

Nothing major here, just three more drawings. Each is actually part of a larger plan, so they are technically all works in progress. I'll have the finished projects up here too!

At SpartanCon May 10th

I had a great time at SpartanCon  last Saturday. A very cool event, and it was held in a library with a very large comics section!

Saying Goodbye to "Night Craft Mini #1"

I attended SpartanCon in Spartanburg, SC this weekend. I always like to have free samples at the show, and the 2-page story in Night Craft Mini #1 has been a popular giveaway for the past two years.

But it is time for something new.

Starting at HeroesCon this year there will be a 4-page Night Craft Mini #2

So here is the original, a two-page taste of the kind of stories that can be found the pages of my full-size self-published comic book series, Night Craft:

The Dragon Warrior

Here's a little drawing I came up with. I never could write fantasy stories, but I sure like drawing that type of world.
Still in the ink stage...
Pencils on 9 by 12 Bristol board... I will always be primarily a traditional artist...
The sketch that started it. It is always to look at something in the sketchbook and realize, "Hey, I want to finish that!"

Spaceman - Digital Painting

This is not a proper step-by-step presentation, but it does show some of the stages as I take a drawing from my sketchbook and turn it into a digital painting.

A Western Scene in Graphite

The finished drawing, graphite on 9" by 12" Bristol board.

This is the line art, before the shading was added.
The sketch stage where I worked out the composition, and included a skull to add a story element to the scene.

The Hikers and the Dinosaur

Inking this entirely with technical pens was a bit of a change for me since
I mostly work with brushes and dip pens...
The 9" by 12" pencil drawing...
The first draft from a sketchbook...
Some more sketches working out the composition and some poses.

An Assortment of Sketchbook Drawings

Time to post some of the happenings in my sketchbooks... Some of these are likely to become finished pieces...

Imitation Pokemon characters
If only dinosaurs still existed... I'd have a lot more adventures everyday...

A couple of horror movie themed sketches...

And some science-fiction themed ones...
This one may work as a painting...
Yes, the tube worm episode of G.I. Joe was influential on me as a child...
And a page of character sketches for the upcoming comic book The Karentha Chronicles created by Roger Crooks
